General Labourer

Qualifications:
Move/lift material weighing of 50+ pounds 
Ability to work effectively outdoors in various climatic conditions.
Ability to pass a drug test 
May be required to be away from home location for extended periods of time
Safety orientated
Work well in a team environment and have strong, effective communication skills 
Preference given to candidates with the following:

 

Class 1 or Class 3 Driver License with a clean driver’s abstract.

Duties: (training will be provided for the ideal candidate):

 

Change bits & reamers on drilling equipment
Mix mud for drilling operations
Responsible for daily maintenance and vehicle inspections of trucks and boring machine by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment as required
Setup and cleanup of work site including traffic and pedestrian
Ensures all applicable permits and locates are complete and on site
Drive truck and trailer combination
Read maps/drawings and coordinating day lighting of these facilities
Work around 5,000-100,000 lbs. drilling rigs, tooling and equipment
Assist in all aspects of drilling operations

Salary Information: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour and overtime pay, based on experience.

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Locator:
 
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:


The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
·       Minimum 4 years of experience in a Horizontal Directional Drilling environment.
·       Experience with different size Vermeer or Ditch Witch units and various brands of locating equipment preferred.
·       Ability to read and understand maps, drawings’ and diagrams for project build process.
·       Class 1 Driver License with a clean driver’s abstract.
·       Safety Tickets: First Aid & AED/CPR, CSTS-09, WHMIS 2015, TDG, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance Supervisory 201.
·       Proficient with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint an asset.
·       Demonstrated ability to work well independently with minimal supervision assuming accountability for achieving results.
·       Auger Boring and Hammering experience is a strong asset.
 
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following proficiencies:

·       Responsible for daily operations of the crew, locates, dig ups, etc. 
·       Drive tow vehicle with drill to jobsite and perform daily maintenance on the vehicle. 
·       Responsibilities include pre-job site survey/inspection to assure all utilities have been located and accounted for, planning the job, locating and

        directing the bore head and drill operator, assign work tasks to labourers. 
·       Assure all located utilities that are in the construction path have been pot-holed, assist in other jobsite labour tasks (set pedestals, place pipe/conduit,

        pull cables, etc). 
·       Confirm bore path with drill operator (including walking the bore path).
·       Perform job site analysis including completion of paperwork.
·       Ensure there are proper clearances to install the product per standards.
·       Record the depth of the tool head as required.
·       Ensure the drill head is in a good position at the exit pit to connect the product.
·       Oversee labourers and/or crew member’s work and monitor time usage.
·       Willingness to cross-train to become proficient at operating drill machine. 
·       Possess experience operating a utility locator, experience in underground utility construction, will accept a leadership role and responsibility for a crew.

·       Able to work in various climatic conditions and work effectively

·       Operates laptop computer, or similar devices, to access required systems and equipment. Must have knowledge of Microsoft programs and Adobe

        Acrobat for the purpose of reporting

·       Performs required incidental and preventative maintenance with associated equipment, and completes necessary logs or reports.
·       Coordinates work locations with other groups and organizations, and works with other employees and/or customers

·       Moves and/or lifts material weighing up to a maximum of 50 pounds.

·       Follows designated safety regulations and abides by company standards

·       May be required to be away from home location for extended periods of time.
·       Ability and willingness to demonstrate a consultative approach with clients.
·       Superior organizational skills to maintain accurate records on daily activities and results.
·       Strong sense of urgency.
·       Ability and willingness to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively within Earthworm as well as external clients and vendors.
·       Read and Understand all Engineering Blueprints, Specification Drawings and work orders.

Safety Tickets: First Aid & AED/CPR, CSTS-09, WHMIS 2015, TDG, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance Supervisory 201.
Proficient with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. (An Asset)
Demonstrated ability to work well independently with minimal supervision assuming accountability for achieving results.

·       Operates Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground conduit
·       Experience with 5000 to 100,000 pound rigs, tooling and equipment
·       Vermeer Dual Rod and Ditch Witch All Terrain experience preferred
·       Ensures safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
·       Performs all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and uses appropriate safety equipment.
·       Setup and cleanup of work site including traffic and pedestrian control.
·       Reads utility locates and coordinating day lighting of these facilities.
·       Ensures all applicable permits and locates are complete and on site.
·       Inspects the work that is in progress to ensure that the workmanship conforms to specifications.
·       Operates construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
·       Level earth to final grade specifications.
·       Operates vehicles and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment as directed and certified.
·       Responsible for daily maintenance on truck and boring machine by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment.
·       Leads teams in the field effectively and efficiently as needed.
·       Adhere to ALL manufacturer provided safety operational procedures and industry safety standards.
·       Provide training and assistance to co-workers.
·       Drive tow vehicle with drill to the jobsite.
·       Operator will direct others to/or mix bore gel for the machine. 
·       Must understand utility locate law and compliance procedures.
·       Able to work in various climatic conditions and work effectively
·       Operates laptop computer, or similar devices, to access required systems and equipment. Must have knowledge of Microsoft programs and Adobe

        Acrobat for the purpose of reporting
